Know Yourself.

knowing-yourself-is-the-beginning-of-all-wisdom

How many of us struggle to express what it is that we want? We stumble the moment we are asked to verbalise our deepest wants and wishes.

For many, it’s that we don’t know what we want; we have yet to figure that out. For some, the head and the heart are conflicted, and we spend our lives in a state of doubt and confusion. For others, it is that we are too afraid to express ourselves for fear of what others might think. But as Robert Louis Stevenson reminds us; “To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying Amen to what the world tells you you ought to prefer, is to have kept your soul alive.” If we are to claim the life of freedom and fulfillment that is rightfully ours, then we are to trust in our intuition. We must develop a deep, unwavering faith in our ability to know what keeps our soul alive; to know what it is we want from life, and to go after it. It begins with knowing oneself.

To know oneself, we must be willing to become still, to listen to our hearts. To reside in a place of integrity. It is to speak up for what we believe in, to stand up and be counted, regardless of what others may think, and to be true. Today, be true to yourself. Make a promise to get acquainted with all that you are, the multi faceted you who is perfectly whole and complete.

Blank Page

a-journey-of-a-lifetime-begins-with-a-single-step

With each New Year, opportunities for change and renewal arise; a time when fresh ideas, hopes and wishes are born. It is true that we can ignite change at any moment in our lives – that we needn’t wait until the first of the month, or Monday, or for the elusive ‘perfect moment’ to begin – but there is something wondrous and welcoming about the start of a New Year; a blank canvas for which our dreams and creativity await form and application.

But when faced with a blank canvas, what should we paint? What hues should we select and what if we run out of colour halfway through? Worse still – what if we stare woefully at the blank page before us, a sense of rising dread as we consider our forgotten finesse for creativity?

In answer to these very real and experienced questions, I invite you to cast your mind back to when you were a child. Rarely, as children, did we ever stop to ponder our ability to create when faced with fresh pots of paint and paper. Instead, with little hesitation, we’d dive in, barely stopping to roll up our sleeves as we repeatedly dipped our brushes, in and out. It didn’t matter if the colours became mixed or the paper became saturated and soaked. Nor did we care if our brush strokes were sloppy and without direction. After splashing a myriad of colour in every which way, we’d pause – and then confidently state our masterpiece, even if it looked nothing of the sort: “Look – a house! A sun! A crocodile!”

Children don’t analyse their visions and dreams, they simply create according to their own unique perspective.

So don’t fret if, as you pen down your wish to lose fifteen pounds or more, you are nibbling away at the left over Christmas chocolates, or dousing your front with fallen crumbs of turkey and cranberry sandwiches.

Today is for creative dreaming, the doing will surely follow.

Magic in the Air

your-dreams-are-real-go-after-them
December is a magical month. A month of miracles. (It’s also a month of high stress, frantic preparations and empty pockets!) But above all else, there is a sense of love, connection and magic in the air as we go about our daily rounds. We begin to reflect on the year gone by, and set in motion our hopes and dreams for the year to come. With all the magical mayhem of Christmas, let us not forget to dream. For dreaming is where the magic happens.

Everything starts as a dream. And your dreams are real.

So go after them!

Your Dreams Are Real

shoot-for-the-moon-even-if-you-miss-youll-land-among-the-stars-2
I am a big believer that our dreams come from God and that He has the power to accomplish them. Often we pin our hopes and dreams on one outcome. We have set ideas of how and when we must arrive there. However, in doing so, we miss the many opportunities there are to land among the stars.

Today, dream big. Know that your dreams are real. Trust that God knows precisely the best, possible way for you to fulfil your Divine purpose. When we get out of our own way and allow ourselves to be led by Divine guidance, who knows? We may even land on the moon after all.

In Love and light,
