Why write this blog?

It can feel difficult to speak to a loved one who is no longer here; that is, here in our waking world. Yet it is easy to forget how comforting communicating with them is.

I never did get the chance to say goodbye to my Dad when he died suddenly, aged 47. So much I wish I could have told him before he left. So much I wish I could share with him now. I was 20 then, now 30. 10 years has been a long, long time without him…without his bear hugs.

So why write this blog?

Maybe my words will resonate with someone who has, or is experiencing the loss of a loved one?

Maybe my future children will read this blog in years to come and come to know what an amazingly selfless, brave and funny Granddad they had… Maybe this way, his memory will forever live on? Even when I, myself, am gone to join him in that heavenly place…

Maybe it is just a place for me to say…

Dear Dad…

  3. Hayley, this must be one of the most unusual and touching ‘about’ page I have come across. I feel so sorry for your loss – such a young age. Yesterday on the radio they were discussing grief and how to try and cope with sudden loss. One suggestion was to write a letter – just like you are doing here but on a much bigger scale. Hoping you find healing and strength along the way.❤️ Thank you too for connecting on my blog.

    • Thank you Anika – I have certainly experienced some great healing since beginning this blog – I have found great comfort and joy along my writing journey which has allowed me to release a lot of the old me along the way…so I can see why letter writing was suggested! Wishing you a beautiful day Annika – and thank you again for your kind sentiments xx
